After a fleeting interest in High School wrestling Jake found his passion for martial arts in 2006 when he began training at Evo Fight Club in Vineland, New Jersey under the instruction of professional MMA fighter Al Buck. Shortly after Jake Skelly began his study of Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at KPOZ Martial Arts (Later Tribe Martial Arts) where he earned his Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt Daniel Tavares.
From 2009 to 2014 Jake Skelly was a dedicated student, coach and competitor at Daddis Mixed Martial Arts Academy in Philadelphia where he was promoted to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt by Brad Daddis. Most recently Jake Skelly earned his Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under Rob Mudrak of Next Gen Mixed Martial Arts where he still studies to advance his knowledge of the art.
An extremely active competitor in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, No Gi, Mixed Martial Arts and Muay Thai competition, Jake Skelly brings a near unparalleled knowledge of the various art forms which dominate the world of professional and amateur MMA competition. Having been a training and sparring partner of multiple former and current UFC, Bellator, World Series of Fighting and Cage Fury Fighting Championship competitors our Head Coach offers a unique insight in training and coaching and the results of his creative approach can be seen any time a student steps onto the mat for class or for competition.

A student of Martial Arts since his elementary years, Anthony Bryson is uniquely qualified to pass along his knowledge to students of all ages and experience levels. Anthony holds a Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, an undefeated kickboxing resume and a highlight reel of exciting Mixed Martial Arts bouts.
Anthony Bryson teaches several times a week bringing his passion and knowledge to students in every program.
Dave Nelson, lovingly known as Uncle Dave, is a passionate student of Muay Thai. Dave has traveled to Thailand on multiple occasions to pursue mastery of the Art of 8 Limbs.

At 44 years of age you will often see Uncle Dave teaching his weekly Sunday Bootcamp class or offering his insight from Thailand to our Advanced Muay Thai classes. An active and eager competitor, Dave Nelson has competed in both amateur Muay Thai and Boxing bouts often against opponents half of his age. Dave is a devoted father and UPS driver who dreams of retiring in the one place he loves more than Hands Up Studios, his adopted homeland of Thailand.
The original Girl Power fighter at Hands Up Studios, Tyler Skelly is one of our most dedicated students. In her first year of training she lost over 60 pounds.

Tyler quickly grew her martial arts knowledge to rival that of our most experienced student. A 4 year, 3 letter varsity athlete through all of High School and Captain of her Field Hockey team, Tyler brings a lifetime of athletic experience and leadership skills to the table when she teaches Bootcamp classes. Be ready to see her throw spinning backfists, overhand punches and a plethora of kicks whenever she steps onto the mat.
Katie Schwartz brings 5 years of experience working as the Director of Counselor Training at the Medford YMCA and 3 years of experience working as a Special Education’s teacher.

Katie is the mastermind behind the Future Fighters program and brings her passion to her role of Future Fighters Program Director. Katie is currently an adjunct professor at Rowan University where she is studying for her Master’s in Writing.
